Caresse Selena Aldana, the youngest child of Andre and Valerie Aldana, is the divorced mother of Nyla and Messina. She is an avid volunteer at the Mason Community Center and the right hand of Mrs. Rogers, the only female partner of the Mancinelli, Morris, Krieger, Rogers law firm. She began volunteering to recover from a messy divorce and to avoid dealing with her personal life. In her former marriage, she struggled to be valued as an equal partner so she decided to forgo any romance entanglements to save herself from the emotional headaches. Over the course of a year, her friendship deepened with Yvette Mason, the director of the Center as she learned to get on with her life. Caresse has many talents – dancing, cooking, teaching and organizing, to the point that she wonders if she’s a little bit of a perfectionist. She was once married to Keith Preston and like most divorcees, finds it extremely difficult to open up to someone new, let alone trust again. She’s very protective of her feelings and emotions. “Once bitten, twice shy” is a motto she strongly adhere to when meeting men so Yvette is always playing matchmaker. Yvette interference gets on Caresse’s last nerve but she knows that there’s love behind each push. She wants a man in her life but can't help but see her ex-husband’s controlling nature and game playing in every man’s actions. Does that mean she won't be ready when love calls? |
