Dane Waters
Winner for Outstanding Debut Author in GLBT Literature 2014
Nomination Thanks
Wow. Nominated for Outstanding Debut Author in LGBT Literature huh? Me? I’m still trying to wrap my brain around that one. At first I thought your email was meant for some other Dane Waters out there. Some real author who knew what they were doing. But there was the cover to my book on your webpage. I must say, that was a really good day for me. If I’d known being a published author was this much fun, I might have started a couple of decades earlier.
Until 2007, being a writer never crossed my mind. As a matter of fact, after seeing what my sister, Qwillia Rain, went through during the editing stage of her fist book, I didn’t want anything to do with the craft. Oh, the words coming out of her mouth. It was epic, believe me.
I wouldn’t say that round one of editing Falling in Love with Crazy had me in tears. But it did. Nor would I admit to huddling in the corner of my room hoping it would all go away when I realized there was such a thing as round two. But I was. I will say that before Venessa Guinta started editing FiLwC, I actually liked Track Changes. Now? Not so much.
I guess what it all boils down to is this. Thank you. Thank you, Angie, for giving newbies like me a chance to say… “See, someone thinks I’m good at this stuff”. Thank you to everyone who read Falling in Love with Crazy and actually liked it. Thank you to those who left reviews that gave me one hell of an on top of the world feeling.
Win or lose doesn’t matter. Being nominated is more than enough for me. A hundred times over…thank you.
