Why the Jacmuir Series was Created
Hi Everyone,
It’s amazing how God places a purpose in your life that becomes crystal clear the closer you are to achieving it. As a young child, I was fascinated with everything surrounding chivalry, King Arthur, the Bible, and mythology, and today my literary dreams of the Jacmuir Series are about to be realized.
I’m eternally grateful for the foundation of my Christian faith and how God has arranged for me to have life experiences that have enriched my writing endeavors. At Stockton, Drs. Thomas Kinsella and Kenneth Tompkins enhanced my desire to create a compelling book series with three distinct Everyman characters to captivated readers. I picked three characters because I needed a representation of both sexes with insights into various socioeconomic classes.
Now some people think the Sheridan Series is the first book series I’ve worked on but it’s actually the first one to be ready for publication. It was my first attempt into multiple storylines writing and advance character layering. If you read South Beach, you’ll discover the characters are vivid, compelling, and leave you feeling like you know each character intimately.
I had to learn how to handle various story threads before tackling the Jacmuir Series because the expansive plot devices and the moral dilemmas that faced these college-aged characters needed to be distinctive.
When I look back at my life choices, I can see why God gave me a strong desire to work at a university. I had to be surrounded with the population I would describe. There is a nuisance to college life that can’t be fully comprehended if you aren’t immersed in it. I also had to work near people that could aid me in the research of crafting a distinct present day society. My years in higher education helped me learn the students’ perspective on their parents, peers, and personal fears.
Becoming an adult is the ultimate goal for each student that arrives at college but the closer they get to that objective the more emotional turmoil seems to take place in their lives. And their biggest difficulties come from trying to live up to the expectations of their parents while discovering some adults create façades to mask their real identities.
I’m delighted that Stephanie Taylor and Astraea Press want to be the publishing platform for this New Adult series. The Jacmuir Series is a contemporary, inspirational series with moral and religious undertones. It’s a far departure from the New Adult books that are focused on developing sexuality and it highlights a cultural diverse cast. So you’ll see this series in regular and religious bookstores as soon as it’s available in paperback.
I’ve received wonderful feedback from major and small publishing houses, RWA members, various literary agents, several religious leaders, New Adult readers, and authors so I hope you’ll support me in creating more diversity on the New Adult literary landscape.
