Sparkle always loved to dress up for fun as a teenager. He loved the wow factor of shocking his classmates with the vibrant colors of his outfits and crazy hair style. He use to get in trouble for pushing the limits of his high school’s dress code but his good nature always helped he to not get a strict punishment. He was the wild child of his Puerto Rican Catholic family, the only boy of five children. He became a dad at age eighteen and worked two jobs to make ends meet for his son. One of the jobs was working as a DJ in a popular Miami gay bar, where he met his ‘Drag Mother’ Lady Elena Gin who saw his passion for performance and his original flare for fashion and fabulousness. When Lady Elena put Sparkle in the ‘Daring Dolls Review’ he met Devine and became great friends. It was in the safety of this friendship that he revealed his bisexuality and his struggles to provide a normal lifestyle for his son, while trying to be the most artistic Diva on the Miami drag scene. |
