Wayne Jordan
2014 Inductee into the Academy of AA/IR/Multicultural Fellows
Wayne Jordan has been reading authors’ bios for years, and often dreamed of having his own Web site as a published Harlequin author. Years passed, and his dream of being published finally became a reality in 2003 when he received the call just two days before Christmas. In November 2005, his debut novel, Capture the Sunrise, was released by BET/Arabesque as part of a special 2-in-1 volume entitled Slow Motion, along with prolific author Devon Vaughn Archer.
Along with his career as a published author, Wayne is a high school teacher of literature, language arts and theater arts. He’s a graduate of the University of the West Indies, and holds a B.A. in literature in linguistics and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics. He is also the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Romanceincolor.com. (NOTE: June 2014 will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the website.)
Wayne lives on the beautiful tropical island of Barbados, which with its white sands and golden sunshine is the perfect setting for the romance stories he loves to create. He loves reading romance, and his favorite romance authors are Brenda Jackson, Maureen Smith, Francis Ray, Adrianne Byrd, Jacquelin Thomas and Victoria Christopher Murray. Wayne also enjoys the more mainstream mood of Nora Roberts, Judith McNaught, Tami Hoag, Linda Howard and Catherine Mann.
A member of NINC, RWA, the RWA Online Chapter and NCTE, Wayne is represented by Cheryl Ferguson of the Ferguson Literary Agency.
Wayne is the host of the Kimani area of the eharlequin.com Community and shares duties with another host in the Simply Series area.
(In His Own Words) Being a male author in a female dominated genre has never been difficult. I’ve always had confidence in who I am and I’ve approached each event and challenge as a talented published author. And I’m not boasting when I say talented. I know I’m a good writer and fortunately, my readers have validated this time and time again. It’s this that makes me want to be better. And yes, I still have a long way to go as I improve as a writer and learn more about the craft of writing.
I’ve never felt like an outsider when I interact with already published authors; maybe because I knew many of the authors as founder and reviewer at Romanceincolor.com.
